  • A business owner owns either a portion, or the entirety of a business. Some business owners are actively involved in the business, while others take a more hands-off approach. They might be involved in different aspects of the business, including finance, operations, logistics and marketing. The business owner also accepts the risk and reward of the business' success.
  • A business owner typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
    • Creating a company mission statement that guides the company's vision and values
    • Hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating employees
    • Ensuring that all federal, state, and local laws are followed in all business activities
    • Analyzing financial statements and trends to manage cash flow and make business decisions
    • Determining pricing for products or services based on costs and competition
    • Developing marketing strategies for products or services to increase sales and brand awareness
    • Evaluating customer satisfaction to improve customer service and product offerings
    • Participating in industry organizations, conferences, and trade shows to promote products or services
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure the best prices possible on materials needed for business operations
